The cathedral was founded around 1380 according to plans of a member of Parléřov works. During the Hussite wars nobody continued in its building. In the years 1481 - 1489 it was built under supervision of Master Hanuš, then by Matyáš Rejsek and the church was completed in 1512 - 1532 by Benedikt Ried.
