Lipník nad Bečvou [ Village or Town/City ]

Lipník nad Bečvou is a little town situated in the valley of the Moravian Gate upon the Bečva River.

The impressive square is graced with late Gothic and Renaissance houses dating back to the 15th and 16th century (including a Renaissance town hall, adapted in the Empire style) and with 2 baroque fountains. A distinctive dominant of the town is the Renaissance bell tower at St. James’s Church, dating back to the beginning of the 17th century. The important tradition of the Brethren’s Union is commemorated by the Brethren’s congregation dating back to the 16th century, which was later rebuilt and used by Piarists. A unique commemoration of the local Jewish community is the gothic Jewish synagogue dating back to the end of the 15th century, one of the oldest ones in Moravia.
